IT Support Specialist

The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to resolve problems with the organization’s’ computer systems. Including hardware and software troubleshooting, system upgrades, and maintenance tasks. The IT Support Specialist is a detail-oriented and highly analytical individual who is comfortable working with a diverse range of technologies and computer systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Systems Technical Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support—identifying, investigating, and resolving users’ problems with computer software and hardware—for problems specific to the organization’s computer network and systems.
  • Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems.
  • Collaborates with IT staff to research and resolve problems.
  • Arranges service by software or hardware vendors to repair or replace defective products.
  • Maintains knowledge of technology innovations and trends. 

Network System Responsibilities:

  • Maintains network systems, installing new hardware and modifying existing hardware, and related network software and applications.
  • Installs and maintains peripheral devices including printers, hubs, routers, and other equipment.
  • Communicates with end users to understand and troubleshoot problems.
  • Conducts periodic diagnostics and testing to ensure optimal network function and minimal downtime.
  • Maintains email and intranet services, adding and removing users and accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in network maintenance and user technical support preferred.
  • A+, Network+, and/or similar certifications highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting and/or standing for a lengthy amount of time.
  • Frequent bending and reaching may be necessary.
  • Frequent use of fingers/hands to manipulate computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Moving, lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to work on-call or long hours in case of network malfunction.

Fiber Optic Technician

Full-time position for experienced Fiber Splicing Technician located in Arizona & Indiana. Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all fiber optic lines within the customer’s network. Must be willing to travel. Current fiber optic certifications preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and meters
  • Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards
  • Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.
  • Working knowledge of fiber optics
  • Basic knowledge of networking
  • Proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment
  • Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
  • Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
  • Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters
  • Learn and adhere to all safety standards
  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes

Experience with the following equipment a plus:

Fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, etc. is preferred.
