Controller
Job Summary: The Controller oversees JMS financial operations and ensures compliance with accounting standards. This individual plays a critical role in managing work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, calculating estimated costs of completion, ensuring compliance with sales and use tax requirements, cash forecasting, budgeting, and leveraging software tools such as NetSuite, SmartSheet, and Navan. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller serves as a key leader within the finance team, develops, implements, and ensures adherence to financial policies and provides financial data and insight to support strategic decision making for the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements maintaining accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices
- Manage WIP schedules, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of project progress, costs and revenues
- Analyze and reconcile WIP and job costing data in line with GAAP and industry standards
- Lead the annual budgeting process, participate and support project leaders when bidding and budgeting projects and develop financial forecasts to guide strategic planning
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for cost savings
- Develop, maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information
- Collaborate with project leadership to ensure accurate cost-tracking and forecasting
- Partner with HR and Payroll teams to set up and maintain payroll and accounting software to process, capture and report on payroll and job costing allocations
- Establish and maintain relationships with banking partners and complete monthly banking borrowing certificate reporting
- Understand and ensure company compliance with federal, state and local financial regulations and requirements, including those specific to the construction industry such as certified payroll and inflation reduction act requirements
- Oversee the timely preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns compliant with all state and local tax requirements
- Document and assess processes, identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and maintain
- Assist with hiring decisions. Supervise, train, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering growth and a collaborative environment
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- CPA, CMA or equivalent certification preferred
- 5 years of accounting experience, with 3 years in a construction or project-based industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles including WIP schedules, cost of completion calculations and job cost accounting
- Proficiency in financial/project management software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven experience in cash forecasting and budgeting in a project-focused environment
- Experience managing sales and use tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with specific deadlines
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments

Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls. Updates employee payroll records and processes changes, including rate and title changes, changes to direct deposit accounts and tax withholdings. This role requires an understanding of InflationReduction Act and Prevailing Wage requirements and includes preparing and submitting IRA related reports.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Understand and follow JMS payroll policies and procedures and maintain the highest level ofintegrity and confidentiality
• Review timekeeping records for accuracy and collaborate with operations leaders to resolve errors and omissions before pay is processed
• Process manual and off cycle payments as needed to ensure compliance with state and local laws
• Collaborate with third party vendors on items including payroll and timekeeping software, payroll taxes, garnishments and leave accruals
• Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during the pay cycle
• Serves as the point of contact for JMS employees for pay related questions and concerns
• Collaborates with site leadership, admins, HR, IT and Finance to ensure correct system setup and usage
• Collaborate with site leadership, admins, HR, IT and Finance to ensure jobs, employees, benefits and withholdings are built and maintained correctly in timekeeping and payroll software
• Ensure taxes and other required government withholdings are collected, deposited, and reported on a timely basis to federal, state, and local authorities in a secure manner
• Stay up to date regarding state and federal regulations and requirements, tax issues, IRA requirements, and W2 reporting requirements
• Participate in year-end tax activities including adjustments to tax withholdings, submission of IRS employer reports, and distribution of wage and tax statements to employees
• Compile data, prepare and review reports related to prevailing wage, the Inflation Reduction Act, state tax withholdings and IRS requirements
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience with payroll preparation and processing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent attention to detail
• Familiarity with timekeeping and payroll processing and auditing software such as Excel, QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, ADP, Workday or Kronos
• Accurate and efficient data entry skills
• Knowledge of wage withholding orders
• Basic understanding of prevailing wage requirements and wage determinations
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team of individuals

Apprenticeship Program Manager
Responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of JMS’ DOL registered apprenticeship program. Oversees the delivery of and record keeping for apprentice training programs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate the apprenticeship program, from recruitment to completion in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll and Operations leaders and subject matter experts to determine the skills, competencies, training and record keeping requirements for each discipline.
- Create, implement and evaluate training plans.
- Coordinate with trainers, journeymen and supervisors to ensure apprentices receive appropriate on-the-job and classroom training.
- Ensure training and delivery methods are kept current, effective and in line with the organization’s financial goals.
- Act as the subject matter on DOL compliant apprenticeship programs.
- Stay up to date with current requirements, best practices and industry standards related to the DOL and Inflation Reduction Act and ensure the program adheres to relevant guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and complete records and documentation related to the apprenticeship program.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure journeyman and apprentice hours are paid and tracked accurately.
- Provide support and supervisory oversight to the Apprenticeship Coordinator.
- Assess and monitor the progress and performance of apprentices. Ensure appropriate progress through the program and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
- May coordinate with external organizations including educational institutions, program vendors and industry associations to promote the apprenticeship program and build partnerships.
- May participate in job fairs, industry events and networking opportunities to raise awareness of the program, attract potential candidates and stay up to date with current industry standards.
- Serve as the point of contact for Apprentices, Supervisors, Trainers, HR, Payroll and other program stakeholders. Foster positive relationships, address concerns or challenges and facilitate effective communication.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in organizational development or a business or construction related field preferred.
- 3-5 years’ related construction and/or training experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and planning skills.

- Understanding of DOL Apprenticeship and Inflation Reduction Act requirements
- Proficiency with standard business software packages with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Solar Safety Manager
The Solar Safety Manager is responsible for planning and managing the general health and safety of JMS solar project sites to reduce accidents, occupational injuries and exposure to health hazards. This role includes assisting in the design and delivery of safety related policies and training programs, including new hire orientation, emergency preparedness and the use of personal protective equipment. The Safety Manager is also responsible for monitoring compliance with safety policies, investigating and reporting on job site accidents and injuries and implementing lessons learned to prevent recurrences.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a leader of job site safety, demonstrating JMS beliefs and commitment to safety, functioning as a team player and fostering trust and communication
- Partner with operations leaders to develop, implement and improve effective site safety plans, policies and procedures

Solar Quality Assurance Specialist
The Solar QA specialist for Utility Construction is responsible for
ensuring the highest quality standards in the installation and commissioning of large-
scale solar power systems. This role involves overseeing quality assurance
processes throughout the construction phase, from initial site preparation to final
system validation, ensuring that all work meets industry standards and regulatory
requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform detailed inspections and testing of solar infrastructure, including
panels, inverters, racking systems and electrical components to ensure
compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
Monitor and verify the construction process, ensuring adherence to
engineering plans, safety requirements and quality control procedures.

Job Summary: Prepare, review and present general and/or discipline (civil, electrical, construction distributable, services) estimates in Clean Energy (Solar, Wind and Battery) businesses. Responsible for conceptual estimating, cost analysis and estimate planning, coordination, and consolidation. Performs department organizational and administrative activities when delegated. Provides direction to others on project/program level tasks.
Job Responsibilities: The following duties are performed with respect to Estimate Execution, the process of conducting an evaluation of services and/or capital cost elements of a project or effort as defined by an agreed-upon scope that will be used to make key management decisions:
-Manages the development of estimates from inception to completion. Develops an achievable estimate plan, inclusive of budget, and leads the estimating team in executing the estimate. Consolidates the estimate components and prepares the proposal internal review documents and bid forms.
-Reviews estimates and ensures quality and integrity. Ensures lessons learned are incorporated into the estimate.
-Manages proposal strategies with Proposal Management and joint venture partners as applicable.
-Prepares Estimate basis and assumption documentation.
-Reviews design or Request for Proposal (RFP) scope criteria and quantities for completeness and reasonableness, and coordinates with the project to develop additional estimating basis when information is incomplete.
-Support supply chain bid evaluation of cost and schedule criteria. May participate in discussions with vendors.
-Leads team and performs contingency analysis.
-Prepares non-manual, distributable or contractors indirect cost estimates, miscellaneous construction services, construction tools and equipment, non manual staffing, startup services, payroll taxes and insurance, operation, and other field costs.
-Effectively presents estimate Management Review package to estimate team, department management and business line management. Schedules internal reviews.
-Prepares and provides guidance in the preparation of proposal cash flow models and working capital analysis.
-Performs and reviews escalation calculations.
-Assesses and integrates commercial terms and conditions into estimates.
-Identifies risk items and assigns risk levels to portions of the project work; identifies measures to mitigate risk.
-Evaluates productivity and develops probable construction cost based on crew craft productivity.
Job Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, business management or related field OR minimum of 8 years of experience in lieu of degree.
-A minimum of 2 years of experience in Estimating or Project Controls.
-Experience in management and coordination of proposal efforts and/or project forecasts.
-Experience with HCSS HeavyBid is strongly preferred.
-Experience with civil/electrical or construction indirect estimate development
-Advanced verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to present cost information to peers, management and customers.
-Experience with Lump Sum Design estimates.
-Experience with development of crew and equipment based estimating. Ability to perform productivity analysis of construction operations and verify results by staffing and crew analysis of work operations by craft.
-Experience with development of contingency and risk assessment models and tools.
-Understanding of cost index and escalation projections.
-Ability to Travel
-Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques.

Full-time position for experienced Fiber Splicing Technician located in Arizona & Indiana. Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all fiber optic lines within the customer’s network. Must be willing to travel. Current fiber optic certifications preferred.

Site Safety Manager
We are seeking a talented individual to assist in developing, managing, and implementing JMS Wind Energy Health and Safety Programs. This position requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management, accident investigation, and training in the renewable energy industry. The professional will be a member of our safety department, and their responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Perform job site safety inspections, maintain files, and investigations related to safety and health for JMS Wind Energy.
- Complete comprehensive reports of findings, including corrective actions.
- Monthly Reports.
- Establish and conduct job site orientation for new employees.
- Conduct and lead CORE training for new hires.
- Assist in developing and implementing health and safety programs.
- Must be familiar with federal, state, and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations.
- Need to be available for incidents after work hours.
- Assist in developing the company's goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
- Help employees to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Transports injured employees for treatment & testing when needed.
- All incidents, near misses, safety infractions/violations, concerns, etc., are reported to management in a timely manner.
- Compile incident rate data on injuries, accidents, etc.
- Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and safety training topics for all employees.
- Prepare, implement, and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activities Hazard Analysis (AHAs).
- Conduct and document job site safety observations.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety, risk management, or construction is preferred but not required.
- OSHA 500 – preferred.
- OSHA 30 – required.
- Minimum of 5 years of prior related experience - preferred.
- OSHA training and other safety certifications are strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (Clear MVR).
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required.
- Travel is estimated to be 80%+.
- Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Sound judgment and independent decision-making skills are required.
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
